STRATFORD, Ont. — Glenn Howard and Peter Corner continued to lead the pack Tuesday after three draws at the Dominion Tankard Ontario men’s curling championship.
Howard, from Coldwater, is looking for his seventh Ontario championship in a row. He improved to 3-0 with a lopsided 8-3 win over Greg Balsdon of the Loonie Curling Club. Howard broke the game open with four points in the fifth end.
Corner’s Brampton rink needed an extra end to keep pace, defeating Arnprior’s Chris Gardner 8-7. Corner won his lone Ontario title in 2000.
Corner and Howard are familiar with each other. Both were members of Russ Howard’s Penetanguishene rink that won four straight Ontario titles from 1991 to 1994.
Thornhill’s Mike Anderson improved to 2-0, scoring one in the 10th end for a 6-5 win over Winchester’s Bryan Cochrane.
Elsewhere, Listowel’s Daryl Shane picked up his first win of the tournament, 8-3 over Woodstock’s Wayne Tuck Jr.
Harriston’s Jake Higgs improved to 2-1 with a 9-7 win over Annandale’s Mark Kean.
