MUNICH, Germany — The World Boxing Council fined challenger Dereck Chisora on Saturday for slapping heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko during the weigh-in.
Viewers can watch the fight on Sportsnet ONE, Saturday night at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.
WBC president Jose Sulaiman says the British fighter was fined for his “unsportsmanlike behaviour” Friday. Sulaiman says Klitschko “behaved like a gentleman and kept calm.”
Chisora slapped the six-foot-seven Ukrainian across his left cheek with his open right hand and insulted him the day before Saturday’s title bout.
The WBC did not disclose how much Chisora was fined for his “disrespect” but said the proceeds would be split between two charities.
