Snow in store: special weather statement issued for Toronto

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Ontario as snow is expected to fall across the province beginning Thursday night.
Eight to 15 centimetres of snow are the updated projections from the CityNews Weather Centre.
“The latest forecast models are starting to trend colder and that means we will likely see limited mixing and higher snow totals.” Says Meteorologist Adam Stiles
The snow is expected to start falling overnight Thursday into Friday, with the heaviest snowfall coming during the late morning hours.
“The morning drive on Friday may be a bit dicey. Accumulations by that time could be a few centimetres, so plan for a slow start to the day. By the evening drive, the snowfall tapers and the snow removal crews should have a good start on the roads and highways.” Stiles added.
A rain-snow mix is still possible along the lake shores and the highest accumulations in the GTA can be expected for areas north of Highway 401 .
Stiles also says “There is still some uncertainty with this system as it is now just crossing over the Rocky Mountains, and a lot can happen once it clears the Continental Divide. We will have a much clearer picture of how this storm will impact you 12 to 24 hours from now.”
