Fired TTC chief owed $560K

Fired TTC general manager Gary Webster will be paid more than $560,000 in severance — more than he would have made if he was allowed to finish his contract — the Toronto Star reports.
Webster earned more than $282,000 in 2010 and, according to his contract, is now owed two more years of pay at full salary and benefits.
If he worked until July 2013, when his contract ends and he was planning to retire, he would have made about $160,000 less, The Star says.
Five out of nine TTC commissioners voted to fire Webster without cause at a special meeting on Tuesday.
Many believe he was punished for his vocal opposition to Mayor Rob Ford’s vision for subways, which council defeated in favour of an LRT plan.
Webster’s contract also reportedly offers $2,500 for legal advice and counselling to find another job.
