TTC considers cellphone service on subway platforms

The TTC is considering making cellphone service available for subway riders waiting for the next train.

The commission was expected to give the go-ahead Wednesday to a plan which would allow passengers to use their cellphones while on a subway platform.

It’s expected to cost the TTC $250,000, with the rest paid by the service provider that wins the contract.

The project should be complete by the end of next year.

There still won’t be service in subway tunnels.
