Pedestrian struck & killed in Markham

A 77-year-old woman was killed while crossing a Markham street on Tuesday morning, police say.
The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was hit by a Mitsubishi around 9 a.m. while crossing Carlton Road at a crosswalk. Police have closed Carlton between Kennedy and McCowan roads for the investigation.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 45-year-old Markham driver wasn’t hurt.
There’s no word on possible charges.
