The Late Show with David Letterman is the latest program to draw comedic gold from Mayor Rob Ford’s misfortunes.
On Friday night, Letterman aired a segment called “Top Ten Uncanny Resemblances to Toronto Mayor Rob Ford,” comparing Ford to American radio host Rush Limbaugh, actor Brian Dennehy and the cartoon character Dilbert.
“Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has been videotaped smoking crack and threatening to kill someone — now that’s what you want in a mayor,” Letterman joked.
“But his excuse — he explained that he was in a drunken stupor at the time … What a legacy this man leaves for the great city of Toronto.”
Talk show hosts like Jon Stewart, Jay Leno and Howard Stern have been skewering Ford since the mayor’s admission on Tuesday that he had smoked crack.
According to his lawyer, Ford is considering his options amid mounting pressure to take a leave or resign.
