One injured in Scarborough shooting

A man believed to be in his late teens was injured when shots rang out in Scarborough on Tuesday afternoon.

Police found multiple shell casings at a bus shelter in the Midland Avenue and Baylawn Drive area, just south of Finch Avenue East.

As a precaution, four schools in the area were placed in hold and secure for about an hour while police investigated.

The schools affected were Francis Libermann Catholic High School, Monsignor Fraser College, Albert Campbell Collegiate Institute and Henry Kelsey Senior Public School.

Police said the victim is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said he is not cooperating with the investigation.

There has been no word on suspects.

Police remain on scene.

Southbound Midland Avenue has been closed from Finch to Huntingwood Drive.
