Fight Toronto parking tickets online with city program

It just got easier to fight a Toronto parking ticket online – and it could be a boon for travellers who are just passing through the city as well as residents.

It will also free up the city’s courts.

The online portal will only apply to tickets issued after Aug. 28, the same day the city introduces the Administrative Penalty System or APS.  APS is supposed to be an easier, more convenient way to dispute violations, according to a statement from the city.

Drivers “will be able to request an online review of your penalty, meaning the entire process can be completed without having to leave your home. If you’d like an in-person review, you will be able to book an appointment at a time that works for you. Not satisfied with the decision? You will be able to request a second independent review of your penalty that will be final.”

Parking tickets issued before Aug. 28 will continue to be processed through the current court system, the city said. Drivers who are already waiting for a court date will not be affected.

For drivers wishing to simply pay their ticket, and not fight it, the system will not be changing. Paying a parking ticket can be done online, by mail, or at one of the following locations:

• Metro Hall, 55 John St., 3rd Floor
• City Hall, 100 Queen St. W., Main Floor
• North York Civic Centre, 5100 Yonge St., Lower Level
• York Civic Centre, 2700 Eglinton Ave. W., Main Floor
• East York Civic Centre, 850 Coxwell Ave., Main Floor
• Etobicoke Civic Centre, 399 The West Mall, Main Floor
• Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr., Main Floor
