A permit allowing a white supremacist rally on Saturday won’t be issued, City of Peterborough officials have confirmed to CityNews on Friday.
The city says that the organizer failed to submit the required information by a deadline of noon on Friday.
Canadian Nationalist Front Rally organizer Kevin Goudreau took to Twitter late Friday afternoon to say the rally was “still a go” at Confederation Square. He told media that he expected 20 to 50 people for what he was calling an anti-Trudeau/anti-immigration rally.
Representatives from Black Lives Matter and other anti-hate groups were planning to attend the rally on Saturday.
This weekend, different local organizations and community groups have planned peaceful resistance events such as dancing, music and guest speakers to show the city’s opposition to the white supremacist event.
