This article is more than 5 years old.
It’s a rag-to-riches story fit for a fairy tale.
From a high-kill shelter in Kentucky, to a dog rescue in Oakville, to living the dream in Kensington Palace – Guy the beagle started from the bottom, now he’s here.
Thanks to his owner Meghan Markle’s royal romance with Britain’s Prince Harry, Guy is the newest pup in the palace.
The good boy beagle was adopted by Markle from A Dog’s Dream Rescue in Oakville. The shelter is enjoying a sudden spike in popularity thanks to a Facebook post that detailed Guy’s “glow-up”.
“One of our recent posts went viral!” said Jacqueline Tollington, a volunteer with the shelter. “It was about Meghan Markle adopting one of our dogs. It’s really exciting.”
A Dog’s Dream Rescue owner Dolores Doherty said Markle is “very likable” and she’s not surprised Guy picked her as his person, sparking his transformation from pauper to princely pupper.
“I hope he gets along with the (Queen’s) corgis because then he will have a lot of fun!” she said.
