One of four suspects in the kidnapping of Wanzhen Lu in Markham has turned himself in to police.
Abdullahi Adan, 37, of Toronto, surrendered overnight and is facing charges of kidnapping, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon and assault, York regional police confirm.
He’s expected to be appear in a Newmarket court sometime Tuesday for a bail hearing.
Lu was allegedly taken from his condo building’s parking garage last Saturday night by three men armed with tasers. A fourth man stayed in the suspect vehicle.
He was found on Tuesday by a homeowner in Gravenhurst with minor injuries. Lu has since returned to Markham and been reunited with his family who flew to Canada from China.
Investigators have now shifted their focus to finding the outstanding suspects. Police say they are still dedicating significant resources to finding the suspects and consider them “armed and dangerous.”
The three other suspects have not been identified but are described as the following:
The first suspect is described as a male wearing a mask, blue pants and a black jacket. Another is described as a dark-skinned male, around six foot one inch wearing a black Canada Goose jacket.
The last suspect was wearing a green and yellow jacket with a hood.
Police are strongly recommending those involved seek legal counsel and turn themselves in.
