The heritage-designated south tower will be completely retained and restored — including the rooftop lounge — which is considered one of the city’s most famous bars.
The project’s architecture is being designed by KPMB Architects, known for their work on the Royal Conservatory of Music and the ongoing revitalization of Toronto’s Massey hall. The interiors are being designed by Studio Munge. Both are world-renowned firms based in Toronto.
Both the hotel and residences feature local Canadian materials – including limestone flooring from Owen Sound.
The hotel is slated to reopen in early 2020.
