Canada’s Bron Creative grabs stake in MGM’s ‘Robocop Returns,’ ‘Legally Blonde 3’

British Columbia-based production outfit Bron Creative is getting behind numerous upcoming MGM movies — including “Legally Blonde 3” and “Robocop Returns” — as part of a US$100 million co-financing deal.

The multi-picture Hollywood film agreement gives another boost to the burgeoning Canadian-run financier, which has built a reputation for securing money to get star vehicles into production.

Under the MGM deal, Bron will take a financial stake in “Candyman,” “Respect,” “The Addams Family” and “The Thomas Crown Affair.”

It’ll also be involved in productions for MGM’s smaller label Orion Pictures, including “Child’s Play,” “Bad Trip” and “Gretel and Hansel.”

Bron Creative is a joint venture between Aaron Gilbert’s Bron Studios and Toronto-based Jason Cloth’s Creative Wealth Management, which finances the films largely with Canadian money. Pension plans, mutual fund operators and the Canada’s highest net worth families are some of the key investors.

Last December, Bron Creative announced a similar co-financing pact with Warner Bros. for DC’s superhero movie “Joker,” Clint Eastwood’s “The Mule,” “Isn’t It Romantic,” and “The Kitchen.”

Cloth’s company was also involved with Oscar-nominated Denzel Washington projects “Fences” and “Roman J. Israel Esq.,” as well as “The Front Runner” and “A Simple Favor”
