Man charged with allegedly sexually assaulting woman seeking rideshare trip

A 33-year-old man has been charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a woman trying to use a ridesharing app.

Police say the 21-year-old woman had ordered a ride from an unspecified service and got into a car with a man claiming to be her driver.

They allege the man then drove the woman to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her.

He also allegedly then stole her cellphone before forcing her out of the vehicle.

Suhail Siddiqi of Ajax is charged with one count each of sexual assault, robbery and overcome resistance by choking.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
