Man killed in drive-by shooting in front of Roncesvalles restaurant

By News Staff

Toronto police are investigating what’s being described as a fatal drive-by shooting in the city’s Roncesvalles neighbourhood Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to the Roncesvalles Avenue and Grenadier Road area just after 4 p.m. for reports of multiple shots fired.

When they arrived they located a man with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Police said he died at the scene.

Police have identified the victim as Paolo Caputo, 64, of Richmond Hill.

Det. Sgt. Andy Singh said Caputo was shot in front of the Domani Restaurant at 335 Roncesvalles Avenue.

“From what we know of the scene thus far, it seems to be a targetted shooting, specifically for the gentleman who is now deceased,” he said.

Singh said a firearm was located at the scene.

Police are now on the hunt for a suspect they describe as being five-foot-eleven to six-foot-two, with a thin build and a fair complexion. He was last seen fleeing westbound on Constance Street, in a white 4-door SUV.
