A traffic stop just east of Toronto has led to the alleged seizure of over 400 pounds of cannabis

Provincial police say the drugs were discovered around 2 a.m. Saturday when officers stopped a white rental van in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Cobourg after a report of a possible impaired driver.

When the van was stopped, police allegedly found 426 pounds of marijuana with a street value of approximately $1.9 million.

Kiryl Andrushkevich, 26, of Oakville and Damaris Nataren Ortega, 32, of Toronto are facing multiple drug and trafficking charges.

Both appeared in court on Sunday.
