New Music Friday: Top picks for January 10

By Lindsay Dunn

Fridays are always a great day for music lovers as not only does it mark the last work day for many in the week but it’s also the day where most artists release new music. Here is a look at some of the releases out the week of January 10th:

Mac Miller’s Final Album Gets a Release Date

Fans of the late Mac Miller finally know the release date of his sixth and final studio album. Miller’s family announced that Circles will be released on January 17th. The 26-year-old was in the process of recording the album before he died of an accidental overdose in 2018.

Dallas Smith Is Timeless

He was the most played homegrown country artist in Canada in 2019 and Dallas Smith is starting the year off to match that honour. The song “Timeless” has some of country music’s biggest stars behind the lyrics including Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and country crooner Brett Eldredge.

The Rough Side of Alan Doyle

Everyone’s favourite Canadian Alan Doyle is making sure you have a great Valentine’s Day. The singer-songwriter announced he is releasing his new EP Rough Side Out on February 19th before heading out on a cross-Canada tour.

Ozzy Osbourne no Ordinary Man

Ordinary and Ozzy Osbourne is a word combination I never thought I would put together. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee is releasing an album on February 21st called Ordinary Man and features an all-star cast of guests including Elton John, Post Malone, Slash and Tom Morello. “It was a lot of fun to do though it’s a lot different from my other albums,” Ozzy says of the album. “We recorded it quickly, which I haven’t done since the first Black Sabbath album. This made it a different process, which I actually enjoyed.”

BONUS TRACK

Rascal Flatts are celebrating 20 years together and marking it by calling it quits. They are the most awarded country group of the decade with more than 40 trophies on their shelf. They will be heading out on a farewell tour starting in June but only have one Canadian date and it’s in Toronto at the Budweiser Stage on September 3rd. So while fans are waiting to snap up tickets for the band’s final show why not take a listening to one of their biggest hits.
