      A North York community has rallied to get healthcare workers the personal protection they need after a local hospital declares a COVID-19 outbreak.

      A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at North York General Hospital after three patients in one unit tested positive for the coronavirus.

      The hospital says on Tuesday, three inpatients in unit 5 West tested positive for COVID-19. All three are experiencing mild symptoms.

      All other patients in the unit have been tested and are negative. The unit will also be temporarily closed to any new admissions.

      Staff are also being monitored, but none have tested positive for the virus at this point.

      This is the first outbreak at North York General.
