Ontario casinos reopen while COVID-19 case numbers rise

By Mitch Burke and News Staff

With new COVID-19 cases still soaring across the province, some Ontarians are getting set to hit the casino floor Monday for the first time in six months.

As of 10 a.m., all major casinos in Ontario reopened, with screening at the door, sanitizer stations throughout, and only 50 players allowed in at a time.

Table games will be off limits, and play sessions will be capped at two hours.

Due to capacity restrictions, players will have to book their spot online in advance.

According to Casino Woodbine’s website, all possible time slots are full for the next four days.

Earlier this month, the Ford government announced that select casinos would be able to reopen.

Ontario reported 700 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday — the highest single-day case count since the province began tracking infections in March.
