OPP say a truck driver is facing impairment by drug and possession charges after hitting the Walkers Line overpass on the QEW Thursday morning. The tractor trailer was loaded with garbage at the time, and a trail of debris was left on the highway.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say a truck driver is facing a charge of impairment by drug and possession charges after hitting a QEW overpass and leaving a trail of garbage on the highway Thursday morning.

Officials say they received numerous calls from drivers reporting the truck was weaving in and out of the westbound lanes.

OPP say they stopped the vehicle after it hit the Walkers Line overpass.

The tractor trailer was loaded with garbage at the time and the impact of the collision appears to have ripped part of the container, leaving a trail of garbage on the highway.

Several drivers experienced flat tires after striking the debris left on the roadway, say OPP.

It’s lucky no one was hurt or killed in the incident, say police, and they are are thanking those who called 911 to report the driver.

Structural engineers have been called in to assess the damage to the bridge.
