4th TTC worker dies of COVID-19

A fourth TTC worker has died of complications related to COVID-19.

Cam Woodburne, who worked as a subway operator for the Wilson Division for over 20 years, battled COVID for almost a month. He passed away on Wednesday.

In a statement, the TTC said, “He will be remembered by those who knew him for his warmth … his passing is being felt throughout the entire organization.”

A total of 1,036 employees have tested positive for COVID-19 out 16,000 staff members since the beginning of the pandemic. Four employees have died.

“The safety of all our employees and customers is my biggest priority. Cam’s death is another reminder that this virus can strike anyone at any time,” read the statement from CEO Rick Leary.

Flags on TTC property were also lowered to half-mast Thursday.
