The province of Ontario says it will accelerate booster shots for education and child care workers in the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area (GTHA) and provide N95 masks to staff in licensed child care settings in a bid to slow the spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant.
Starting on Friday, the province says its new mass vaccination clinic at the International Centre in Mississauga will be prioritized for education and child care staff in the GTHA.
That includes teachers, custodial staff, administrative staff, school bus drivers and child care workers.

The clinic will operate seven days a week, with specific appointments being made available for educations and child care staff from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
For education and child care workers outside the GTHA, the province says it is working with public health units to set up more clinics for third doses, and updates will be provided in the near future.
Eligible staff are encouraged to book their appointment through the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900.
Optional N95 masks will be available for child care staff starting on January 10.
“The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health are working together with an aim of making more rapid-antigen tests available to support the ongoing operations of child-care centres, and schools when they return to in-person learning,” a provincial release adds.
