Sunshine List: Which public sector employees raked in over a $1M in 2021?

With real estate running wild, gas prices surging, and inflation taking a progressively bigger bite out of our bank accounts, a yearly income of $100,000 isn’t as head-turning as it used to be.

But there are still some jaw-dropping salaries on the province’s annual Sunshine List, which the government released on Friday.

This year’s edition saw four employees — all at Ontario Power Generation (OPG) — exceed $1 million in pay.

OPG President and CEO Kenneth Hartwick topped the list of more than 244,000 public sector employees who pulled in six figures or more, earning a whopping $1,628,246.

TTC CEO tops City of Toronto salaries

The Big Smoke saw some big salaries, but none bigger than TTC CEO Rick Leary’s. He was the top City of Toronto earner, pulling in $438,495.91.
