Man arrested after threatening woman with shotgun in Brampton

A man was arrested and charged after allegedly pointing a shotgun at a woman during a verbal altercation in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police say the incident happened around 9 a.m. on Sunday when two people were engaged in a dispute in the area of Bovaird Drive East and Southlake Boulevard.

Police say a 24-year-old man pointed a long firearm, believed to be a shotgun, at a woman in her 20s.

They were not previously known to each other, police claim. The woman was not injured in the confrontation.

As a result, police arrested and charged 24-year-old Harjot Gill of Brampton. Gill faces multiple firearm-related offences, including possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police executed a search warrant on Gill’s residence and vehicle, where a loaded Mosberg Model88 12 Gauge Pump Action Shotgun was discovered and seized.

Gill was held for a bail hearing after appearing in court.
