100-year-old woman struck by SUV in North York, suffers life-threatening injuries

A 100-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle in North York on Tuesday morning.

Toronto police responded to a call before noon near Steeles Avenue East and Bluffwood Drive, just west of Leslie Street.

Police say the woman was walking westbound on the south side of Steeles when she was hit by a Subaru SUV that was waiting to make a right turn from Bluffwood Drive.

The woman was transported to a local trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the Subaru, a 64-year-old man, remained on scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
