Ontario seeing decline in COVID-related hospitalizations, 17 additional deaths

The province is reporting 17 additional deaths in the past month on Sunday and the lowest number of COVID-related hospitalizations in nearly a week.
Not all hospitals report their data on weekends, but according to online data, Ontario is seeing 1,410 patients in hospital for reasons related to the virus. 153 people are in ICU with COVID-19 and 71 are on a ventilator.
A decline in daily COVID-19 cases is also being reported with 2,243 new infections being reported, however, health officials have warned to times that number by 20 for a more accurate number because of the province’s limited testing. Sunday’s count is nearly 20 per cent lower compared to the day before.

The total number of tests completed in the past day is at its lowest in almost a week as well with 13,492 done. 14.7 per cent of those tests came out positive for COVID-19.
As for vaccinations, 87 per cent of Ontarians five years of age and older are double dosed and 16,739 shots went into arms on Saturday. The number of daily vaccine shots administered is nearly half compared to the day before and the lowest it’s been since April 25.
