A man in his 30s is dead following a shooting in the east end of Scarborough on Wednesday night.
Police say they received several calls around 8 p.m. for multiple shots fired at an apartment building on Lawrence Avenue East and Mossbank Drive, just east of Scarborough Golf Club Road.
When they arrived they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds near a basketball court at the back of the building. He was eventually pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators identified the man as 24-year-old Javonte Daley.
Police say they are likely looking for multiple suspects, however, no descriptions were provided at this time.
Police could not say if this was a targeted shooting or just a random act of violence but there were a number of potential witnesses in the area at the time of the shooting and police are looking to speak with anyone who may have any information.
It is the 29th Toronto homicide of the year and the 21st gun murder.
