Lamborghini driver charged after caught going nearly triple the speed limit in Vaughan

A driver is facing charges after they were clocked going more than 100 km/h over the speed limit in Vaughan on Tuesday morning.

York Regional Police say a Lamborghini Aventador was stopped around 2 a.m. after getting caught going 170 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Highway 7 near Keele Street.

The 42-year-old male driver is now facing stunt driving charges and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension. The $460,000 luxury vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.

“Anyone who is driving at those speeds, the vehicle is going to be taken off the road for a period of time and they’ll have to attend court,” says Amy Boudreau, a spokesperson for York Regional Police.

Police say there was one other occupant in the vehicle when it was stopped by officers.

In a tweet, York police say the incident occurred on the stretch of road with the highest number of collisions in York Region.
