32-year-old man dies in hospital after assault at Scarborough restaurant

Toronto police are investigating the city’s 37th homicide after a man died following an assault last Monday at a restaurant in Scarborough.

On July 11, police say they were called to an assault in progress at 580 Progress Avenue, at the Jack Astor’s, after a reported altercation between several men.

A 32-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and two men were arrested, police say.

On Wednesday, July 13, police say 32-year-old Frank Harbalis of Toronto died in hospital.

Police say 26-year-old Alexander Campbell of Toronto and 26-year-old Tyler Josling of Toronto were arrested and charged with aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, and choking, and that their charges will be upgraded to manslaughter.

Campbell and Josling are both scheduled to appear in court on August 24.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who has information is being asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
