1 dead after small double-engine plane crashes near Stratford Airport

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is investigating after a small double-engine plane crashed near Stratford Municipal Airport, killing one man on board.

Perth County OPP and emergency crews were called to the area of Perth Line 43 in the Township of Perth East just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

The OPP said the plane crashed in an open field northeast of the Stratford Municipal Airport.

The man, who was the only person on the plane, was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is not yet known if the plane was heading to or from Stratford.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. The TSB said it had deployed a team of investigators to the scene.
