17-year-old injured in police pursuit in North York, SIU investigating
Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a teenager was seriously injured Saturday morning in North York.
In a release, the Special Investigations Unit said around 4:30 a.m. a York Regional Police helicopter saw a Honda Accord travelling westbound on Highway 401 at a high rate of speed before getting off on Meadowvale Road and stopping at a convenience store.
When a police officer attended the store, located at Dean Park Road and Meadowvale Road, the SIU said the vehicle, with four occupants, fled onto the highway and Ontario Provincial Police attempted to stop the vehicle.
