Man intentionally run over with vehicle in aggravated assault: Durham police

A man has been charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly intentionally ran over another man in Durham Region over the weekend.

Police responded to a call in the area of Concession Street and Trudeau Drive in Clarington around 3:40 a.m.

Officers located an injured man lying on the sidewalk when they arrived at the scene. He was transported to hospital with life-altering injuries.

Investigators say they determined the victim was intentionally run over by a vehicle after getting into an argument with the driver.

Police believe this is an isolated incident and say the victim and suspect were known to each other.

Durham police have arrested 37-year-old Cory Fisher of Clarington. He faces multiple charges including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm.

The suspect is being held for a bail hearing.
