Woman, 71, in life-threatening condition after being struck by falling light pole

A 71-year-old woman is fighting for their life after she was hit by a falling light pole.
Police say a white delivery truck was parked in the northbound lane on Yonge Street near Hillsdale Avenue, just south of Eglinton Avenue around 3:15 p.m. Friday afternoon. As it pulled away, the truck struck a light pole which fell and struck the woman.
She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. No further update on her condition was provided Friday evening.
Police did not say if charges are pending against the driver of the truck but are asking local residents, businesses and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage and were in the area between the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 pm to contact Traffic Services.
