A 37-year-old man is facing a murder charge in connection to a shooting at an underground parking lot in Scarborough back in December.

Around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 30, 2022, Toronto police were called to a building in the area of Birchmount Road and Sheppard Avenue East for reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, officers found a man with a gunshot wound in the building’s underground garage. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Last month, police identified the victim as Gars-Ara Kourjakian, 34, of Toronto.

He was the 70th homicide victim of the year.

On Friday, police said they arrested Devret Clarke, of Toronto, and charged him with first-degree murder.
