Toronto man faces 8 charges in Peel police drugs, firearms investigation

A Toronto man is facing several charges in connection with a drugs and firearms investigation by Peel Regional Police.

Peel police say the investigation dates back to late 2022, which led officers to obtain search warrants to check two residences and a vehicle.

On Monday, police say they searched a residence and a vehicle in Mississauga, as well as a residence in Toronto, where they found a loaded handgun and an unspecified quantity of suspected cocaine.

The suspect was located and arrested during the execution of the search warrants.

Denzel Smith, 29, has been charged with eight offences including possession of a loaded restricted firearm, possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine, unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of a firearm contrary to order.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
