The ice had flown off another transport truck, though there were no charges in the incident, per the head of OPP Highway Safety Division Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.
After flying onto the windshield, the ice broke through on the driver’s side, causing the window to smash inwards toward the driver.
Sgt. Schmidt also said the driver “was cut and went to the hospital to get stitched up” but suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The area has been cleared, and there are no closures by the Highway 418 merge lane.
