UP Express service resumes following suspension due to ‘maintenance issues’
Metrolinx has resumed running UP Express trains from Union Station to Pearson Airport after the service was suspended Saturday due to maintenance issues.
Trains are running on a 30-minute schedule and will be making all stops between Union and the airport, according to the provincial transit agency.
Beginning this morning, #UPExpress trains will resume 30-minute service making all stops between Union & Pearson. Thank you for your patience as we made some necessary repairs to our trains. For schedules: https://t.co/mThZnbic52.

Metrolinx says during regular inspections this past weekend, hairline cracks were discovered on some of the trains and they were immediately removed from service.
“The UP Express trains remaining in service have passed all safety inspections,” it said.
Since the beginning of February, Metrolinx has had to modify its UP Express service because of limited availability of equipment due to what it calls “unexpected maintenance.”

Prior to Saturday’s shutdown, only four of the 18 trains had been running on a 30-minute schedule as of Feb. 7 due to the equipment issues.
“(We) are doing everything we can to get the affected trains safely back into service as soon as possible,” Metrolinx said.
