A 43-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in the apparent random assault that killed a former CBC journalist.
Police were called to the area of Danforth and Jones avenues on the afternoon of Jan. 24.
Investigators said a male suspect was walking along the Danforth when he encountered another man and assaulted him.
The victim, who has been identified as longtime CBC radio producer, 73-year-old (Douglas) Michael Finlay, fell to the ground and was seriously injured.
Finlay died shortly after due to medical complications stemming from what officers called a “random assault.”
An arrest warrant was later issued for Robert Robin Cropearedwolf of Toronto. He surrended to police Tuesday and has been charged with manslaughter.
Police previously said that officers believe both men did not know each other.
He appeared in court via video conference on Tuesday at College Park Court.
