Man critically injured after being struck by a vehicle near Yonge and Lawrence

A man has been taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle near Yonge and Lawrence.

Police were called to Yonge Street and Cranbrooke Avenue just before 11 p.m. for reports of a collision.

A 64-year-old man was taken to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition.

Investigators say he was hit by a driver heading north on Yonge and smashed into the windshield of the vehicle before bouncing off.

Police say it appears the pedestrian was not at a marked crosswalk and was attempting to cross the street mid-block.

The driver involved remained at the scene.
