One arrested after hate-motivated threat incident at Kennedy station

One man has been arrested after an investigation into a hate-motivated threatening incident

Police responded to a call at 10 a.m. on Mar. 31 after a man was verbally threatening people at Kennedy subway station

The suspect was allegedly armed with a sharp object and was chasing several people, yelling racial slurs at those he was chasing, before fleeing the station ahead of police arrival.

Gary Bosse, 24, of Toronto was arrested and charged with uttering threats, possession of a dangerous weapon, assault with a weapon and four counts of failing to comply with probation.

“After consultation with the Service’s specialized Hate Crime Unit, the investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence,” police said in a previous statement.

Should the suspect be charged and convicted of the offence, the Judge will take into consideration hate as an aggravating factor when imposing a sentence.
