Third suspect arrested in connection with kidnapping of Elnaz Hajtamiri

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they have arrested and charged a third person in connection to the kidnapping of Elnaz Hajtamiri.

On the evening of Jan. 12, 2022, Hajtamiri — who was 37 years old at the time — was abducted from a relative’s residence in Wasaga Beach by three suspects dressed in police costumes.

Police say the suspects fled in a white Lexus RX sport utility vehicle.

Hajtamiri has not been seen since and a $100,000 reward for information about her whereabouts has been offered.

OPP say 35-year-old Dominique Ewan of Etobicoke was arrested on Monday and is facing several charges, including kidnapping and fraud.

The suspect was released on conditions and is schedule to appear in court in Collingwood in May.

Last week, OPP arrested a Brampton woman believed to be involved in her abduction. Hajtamiri’s ex-boyfriend was previously charged in the case.

Police have identified one of two other suspects believed to be involved in the kidnapping. Deshawn Davis, 35, is thought to be residing somewhere in the GTA, according to investigators.

Investigators allege Hajtamiri was attacked in a separate incident a month before she was kidnapped. It happened at an underground parking garage in Richmond Hill on Dec. 20, 2021.

Police say she was assaulted with a frying pan by a group of men, one of whom was allegedly her ex-boyfriend.

Earlier this month, police charged a fifth person in connection with the frying pan attack. Investigators also issued Canada-wide warrants for two men wanted in connection with the attack.
