Two people were sent to hospital in critical condition after a shooting in Mississauga.

Police were called to a townhouse complex in the area of Bristol Road and Whitehorn Avenue, just east of Creditview Road, around 9:40 p.m. on Monday.

A man and a woman were found at the scene with gunshot wounds. Both victims were brought to hospital in life-threatening condition but their condition has since stabilized.

Police tell CityNews there was an outdoor gathering outside the complex when the shots were fired. The group was allegedly setting off fireworks in a small park when someone pulled out a gun.

The shooter fled the area before officers arrived. No suspect information has been made available.

Investigators say the shooting was an isolated incident and there are no public safety concerns.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.
