Suspects shot firework into vehicle during carjacking in North York: police

Toronto police are searching for multiple suspects following an armed carjacking that saw a firework shot inside the vehicle, burning the driver’s clothing.

Investigators were called to the Jane Street and Trethewey Drive area around 10:30 p.m. on May 22 for reports of a car theft.

It’s alleged that a male victim had been driving around in his vehicle with two friends when he stopped in a parking lot.

Police said six suspects approached the car, with one shooting a firework into the vehicle, causing burns to the victim’s clothing.

One suspect was armed with a handgun and pointed it at the victim while making a demand for the keys. The group then entered the victim’s vehicle and drove off.
