Police identify teen boy killed in shooting at Pickering townhouse complex

Police have released the name of the 17-year-old boy who was killed in a shooting at a townhouse complex in Pickering over the weekend.

Durham Regional Police officers were called to the housing complex on Kingston Road near Brock Road and Finch Avenue around 9:45 p.m. on Sunday.

A 17-year-old boy was located at the scene with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Paramedics attempted life-saving measures but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In an update on Wednesday, police identified the victim as Anthony Dixon.

Police believe the shots were fired from a vehicle that fled the area. However, at this point, no suspect information has been made available.

Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and say there’s no threat to public safety.

Police continue to appeal for anyone with additional information about the incident, or who have dash-cam and surveillance video, to contact them.
