Voting hours extended in some Toronto locations due to ‘interruptions’

The City of Toronto has extended byelection voting hours at four locations due to interruptions.
The interruptions were caused by various circumstances including a fire alarms and medical emergencies, Toronto Elections told CityNews. They also added that “the temporary power outages did not impact the ability to process voters.”
All other voting locations are scheduled to close at 8 p.m.
As a result, the city said the release of byelection results will be delayed by 15 to 20 minutes.
A city spokesperson said Scarborough’s West Hill Apartments, located at 4175 Lawrence Avenue East (Assembly Room — Ward 24 — Sub 37), will remain open until 8:15 p.m. on Monday. Sacred Heart Catholic School, located at 75 Hupfield Trail in Scarborough (Ward 25, Sub 8), will also remain open until 8:15 p.m.

St. Thomas Aquinas, located at 636 Glenholme Avenue in York (Ward 12 — Sub 3), will remain open until 8:20 p.m., while The Briton House in Midtown Toronto. located at 700 Mount Pleasant Road (Ward 12 — Sub 6), will stay open for eligible voters until 9 p.m.
Any voter in line at these locations by the extended closing time will be able to cast their ballot, the city said.
