Man dead after falling from balcony during Oakville apartment fire

A man is dead after falling from the balcony of an apartment that caught fire in Oakville on Wednesday morning.
Halton police say they responded to a call around 5:40 a.m. for a fire at a high-rise building on Queen Mary Drive, in the area of Kerr Street and Lakeshore Road West.
The fire was contained to a single unit on the 11th floor.
Police confirm a man was transported to hospital after falling from the balcony. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
Investigators believe he was the only person in the unit when the fire broke out.
No other injuries have been reported.
There is no word on how the fire started. The Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified.
