Man, 24, dead after targeted shooting in Etobicoke: police

One man has died in hospital in what investigators believe was a targeted shooting inside an Etobicoke apartment building.

Toronto police were called to The Queensway and Kipling Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on Monday for reports of a shooting.

Authorities located one victim with life-threatening injuries. They were transported to a local hospital via an emergency run, police confirmed.

A 24-year-old man later died from his injuries in hospital. He was not identified.

Insp. Jeff Bangild told reporters that two male suspects entered a residential building and opened fire.

“This appears to be a targeted shooting,” Insp. Bangild said. “Given that the individuals entered the apartment [and] selected a very specific location where this individual was essentially murdered.”

Insp. Bangild said police were called to the scene after a concerned citizen told the apartment building’s front desk that a shooting had occurred.

He said there is no threat to the public, and this is believed to be an isolated incident.

Investigators have not provided any information on the suspects.
