Pedestrian struck and killed in Scarborough, impaired driver arrested

A 52-year-old man is dead after being struck by an alleged impaired driver in Scarborough.

Toronto police say a white BMW driven by a 32-year-old man was travelling southbound on Warden Avenue when it struck the pedestrian near Ellesmere Road around 10:30 p.m. Friday.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of impaired driving but have not announced any formal charges, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
