3 dead in ‘high speed’ overnight crash in Brampton
Three people are dead after what police say was a ‘high-speed interaction’ involving two vehicles early Thursday morning in Brampton.
Police say a Volkswagen Jetta and a Nissan Altima were travelling at a high rate of speed westbound on Bovaird Drive near Chinguacousy Road around 1:30 a.m. when the Jetta was involved in a crash.
Emergency crews arrived on the scene to find the badly damaged vehicle that appeared to have struck a concrete pole on the north side of Bovaird.

Peel paramedics tell CityNews that life-saving measures were performed on three males who were inside the vehicle, however, they were later pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say one person has been taken into custody after the second vehicle was found at a nearby gas station.
“The working theory right now is that the two vehicles were involved in some sort of high-speed interaction. The sequence of events, and how they came into contact is all part of the investigation,” said Cst. Tyler Bell-Morena. “As you can tell by the substantial debris here, high speed was definitely a factor.”
Police say the driver of the Altima is facing three counts of failing to remain causing death.
Any witnesses or people with dash-cam footage of the area around the time of the crash are being asked to contact police.
